OUR BUSINESS

  • Research international best practices and technologies for collision avoidance and safe operating practices,
  • Test mine-specific context and functionality of Collision Avoidance Systems (CAS)and solutions and all related safe operating and maintenance practices,
  • Understand the technical functionalities and practical implications of the various Collision Avoidance Technologies (CAS) and related standard operating procedures in terms of implementation,
  • Assess the traffic flow, perform the risk assessments and determine safe operating risks, and then
  • Develop safe operating requirements for the mine vehicles and traffic (TMM COP, procedures and standards, etc..), as well as a detailed change management/implementation management road in terms of the human element (ensuring a successful implementation),
  • Ensure that our clients have well informed, independent advice on which to base their decision, as well as detailed oversight for a successful implementation.
  • TerreSauver supports our clients by being on site with them (at the face) and implementing the solutions developed.

FOCUS AREAS

COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEMS (CAS) IN MINING

TerreSauver is the global leader in:

  • Traffic management, application/ implementation of CAS level 7,8 and 9 risk assessment, risk analysis and risk management approach/tools (V-V; V-P; V-E),
  • CAS technology testing,
  • Assessment of fit-for-purpose CAS technology, as well as
  • The implementation of Collision Avoidance Systems (CAS) (EMESRT levels 7,8 and 9) in mines.

THE HUMAN ELEMENT (HUMAN ERROR)

More than 60% of  all mining incidents and accidents are human error-related (i.e. the primary risk factor).

Vehicle accidents in mines  (vehicle to vehicle, pedestrian or infrastructure),  happens for only 1 of 2 reasons:

  1. Mechanical failure, OR
  2. HUMAN ERROR ( >60%)

CAS technology implementation without extensive focus on the human element and trust of the technology, is seldom successful.

TMM CODES OF PRACTICE, PROCEDURES AND STANDARDS

  • The risk assessment, development, decluttering, alignment and implementation of TMM, COPs, Procedures and Standards (including compliance to the respective laws, regulations and best practices)
  • Traffic flow analysis (including drone/AI assessment and analysis for surface mines)
  • Traffic management plan (CAS level 9 ready)
  • The related road design and standards
  • Training guidelines for all standard operating procedures
  • Implementation / embedment (the way we do things) of the respective operating procedures (How do we create a compliance culture / counteract ill discipline”)

RELATED CODES OF PRACTICE, PROCEDURES AND STANDARDS

  • Conveyors,
  • Confined spaces
  • Health and Safety
  • Etc.

The generation and implementation of:

  • COPs
  • SOPs, Standards, registers, checklists
  • Risk assessments,
  • Human change impact analysis and closing the gap,
  • Training guidelines for operating procedures,

The alignment of technology to apply the solutions developed (artificial intelligence, tools, tablets etc.)
