THE HUMAN ELEMENT (HUMAN ERROR)

TerreSauver has developed a multi-layered implementation approach (going beyond standard “change management”), to establishing a new “way of working“. This we base on every individual’s preservation instinct (thus connected at the core of the individual’s sense of safety) as our starting point. This in turn becoming the raison d’être for compliance to Codes of practice (COPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), as well as risk assessments.

Core lesson 1:
one cannot just “change people’s mindsets” or instruct them to “be safe /work safely and follow the rules”
The human being is the very complex, irrational, unpredictable and uncontrollable weak link in the safety chain – hence HUMAN ERROR is listed as the major cause of the majority of incidents and accidents – and that despite all the COPs, SOPs and Collision Avoidance Technology being in place.
